Akhasheni wine is a red natural semi-sweet variety with a strength of 10.5-13% and a sugar content of 30-50 g/l. It is produced from the autochthonous Georgian Saperavi grape growing in the Gurjaani district of the Kakheti region. Crops are harvested near the village of Akhasheni, after which the drink got its name. The exact recipe according to which alcohol is made was developed in 1958. At the same time, the first batches of the product were released.
The wine is distinguished by a rich dark garnet color. In its aroma, the tones of red berries, mainly cherries and currants, are most vividly felt. The delicate taste of the wine is replete with fruity nuances and light tart shades. Alcohol is served as an accompaniment to meat with spicy sauces, desserts, ripe sweet fruits.
